Abstract

It is often said and found true that the research of to-day becomes the engineering technique of to-morrow. Research results are applied to the development of new designs. The industrial designer has rarely more than time to remain informed in his special field by reading periodicals. Even this is not easy if progress made abroad shall be absorbed. As soon as a technical problem requires information from several branches of engineering, it becomes rather difficult to remain really competent.
