Zusammenfassung

Der diesjährige Bericht umfaßt die Arbeiten der Jahre 1936–1941, soweit sie sich auf die Pflanzen des Paläozoikums erstrecken. Dabei sind lediglich die die Morphologie und Systematik der paläozoischen Pflanzen betreffenden Abhandlungen berücksichtigt, während auf die pflanzengeographischen und stratigraphischen Arbeiten, insoweit diese nicht bereits in Fortschr. Bot. 7 zum Referat gelangt sind, im nächsten Band dieser Fortschritte zurückzukommen sein wird. Wie die Darstellung zeigt, hat die Morphologie der paläozoischen Pflanzen durch die Arbeiten der letzten 5 Jahre nach allen Seiten hin wesentlichen Ausbau erfahren. In erster Linie sind hervorzuheben die Arbeiten über die primitiven Lycopodiales sowie über Sigillarla, die Funde an Protoarticulates und Protofilicales des Devons sowie an den unter den paläozoischen Farnen so eigentümlichen Coenopteridineen, die Erkenntnis der neuen Filicalesgruppe der Noeggerathiineen und ihrer Oberdevonvorläufer, und schließlich die Klärung der Morphologie der paläozoischen Koniferenblüten.
