Der Quecksilberbogen ist reich an kurzwelligen Strahlen, die jedoch bei gewöhnlichen Quecksilberlampen von der Glaswand absorbiert, werden. Quarzlampen geben aber noch Strahlen einer Wellenlänge von 220 μ μ und darunter1).
