Zusammenfassung

Die Ablagerungen von Harnsäure, welche als Symptome gichtischer Erkrankung in den Gelenken vorkommen, haben zu zwei Arten von Bestrebungen geführt. Die eine Richtung sucht die Bildung von Harnsäure im Organismus überhaupt zu unterdrücken oder herabzusetzen, während es die andere als ihre Hauptaufgabe ansah, in den Organismus Substanzen einzuführen, welche bei möglichster Ungiftigkeit als Lösungsmittel für die in den Geweben abgelagerte Harnsäure dienen sollten.
