Das Mycetom ist vorwiegend eine Erkrankung der tropischen Länder, doch werden ausnahmsweise einzelne Fälle in europäischen Ländern beobachtet (Miescher in der Schweiz, Beron in Bulgarien), es sei deshalb auch hier kurz darauf eingegangen.
