Die einfachste analytische Function, welche für alle endlichen Werthe des Argumentes u den Charakter einer ganzen Function besitzt und die Eigenschaft hat, für u = 0 sowie für alle diesem Werthe congruenten Werthe ω= 2μω + 2μ′ω′ von der ersten Ordnung unendlich klein zu werden, ist die zu dem Periodenpaare (2ω, 2ω′) gehörende Sigmafunction Ϭ (u ∣ ω, ω′) = Ϭu.
