Zusammenfassung

Invagination, auch Intussusception nennt man die Einschiebung eines Darmstückes in einen angrenzenden, im allgemeinen abwärts gelegenen Darmabschnitt. Die Krankheit nimmt unter den Passagestörungen des Darmes, die mit vollkommenem Heus einhergehen, mit Recht eine Sonderstellung ein. Ihr meist rätselhaftes Entstehen bei gesunden Kindern, ihre prägnanten Symptome, der geradezu dramatische Ablauf und der so häufig katastrophale Ausgang haben schon seit langem die Aufmerksamkeit auf das Krankheitsbild gelenkt und zahlreiche Arbeiten, teils kasuistischer, teils zusammenfassend monographischer Natur angeregt.
