Acute Iritis, Acute Iridocyclitis

Summary

The acute anterior uveitis is the most frequent type of all kinds of uveitis. Nevertheless the etiology and pathogenesis of the majority of these cases remains unclear. In cases, where connections with bacterial and viral infections are known, one can assume a hematogenic or neurogenic spreading of inflammation — producing agents as pathogenetic factor of the uveitis. The relation to clearly defined systemic diseases is discussed and a short interpretation of the clinically relevant irnmunpathology is given.
