Zusammenfassung
Die Entwicklung monoklonaler Antikörper hat in ganz ungewöhnlicher Weise die Hoffnung auf die Entdeckung wirklich tumorspezifischer Antigene neu geweckt, die insbesondere dadurch weiter genährt wird, daß in den letzten Jahren immer neue monoklonale Tumormarkertests mit einer angeblich bislang nie gekannten Organ- und Tumorspezifität in der Fachpresse und dann auch durch Firmenreklame bekannt gegeben werden. Einer dieser neuen, durch monoklonale Antikörper definierten Marker ist das sogenannte CA 19/9, ein — wie wir heute wissen — zur Blutgruppensubstanz Lea gehörendes Kohlehydrat, das in den ersten wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen als ein für kolorektale Karzinome spezifisches Antigen angekündigt wurde, das im Serum von Patienten mit diesen Tumoren in hohem Maße zu finden sei.
