Abstract
Theoretically, the tumour can grow out of a single cell capable of mitosis. In fact, it was possible to demonstrate growth of the tumour after transplantation of a very small number of tumour cells, also with such heterogeneous tumours as the Walker 256 carcinoma. (However, such tumours transplanted to a variety of animals may be the tumours that are highly adapted and antigenically simple.)
