Abstract

Until 20 years ago most of our knowledge on cosmical objects was based merely on the analysis of visible light reaching the earth from outer space. This changed when appropriate techniques had been developed to utilize increasingly the perception that every kind of radiation or — generally spoken — any structure of energy hitting the earth carries information on its origin and on the conditions in space which influenced its qualities and propagation. This holds especially also for radiation of charged particles.
