Abstract

Suitable methods of separation and detection are part of the equipment for working with mixtures of chemical compounds. There is no universal method. A. complex mixture is submitted first to preliminary separation into, e. g., a lipophilic and a hydrophilic fraction. Each fraction is then subdivided further until mixtures of substances with fairly similar properties are obtained, for the separation of which, chromatography is then used with benefit.
