Zusammenfassung
Zuverlässigkeitsarbeit dient dem Ziel, die Wahrscheinlichkeit von Ausfällen zu einer kalkulierbaren und beeinflußbaren Kenngröße technischer Systeme zu machen. Da jedoch eine absolute Zuverlässigkeit nicht erreichbar ist — ja ihre Erreichung im allgemeinen nicht einmal angestrebt ist, ist die Instandhaltung, sei sie vorbeugend — vor Auftreten eines Fehlers — oder korrigierend — einen Fehler beseitigend — eine Notwendigkeit, deren Kostenträchtigkeit allen Systembetreibern wohl bekannt ist. Dies gilt für so relativ einfache Wirtschaftsgüter wie ein Haushaltsgerät bis hin zu den komplizierten Geräten und Anlagen, die z.B. bei der Energieerzeugung oder in der Verkehrstechnik benutzt werden.
