Abstract
Gastrotomy for exploring the interior of the stomach, cardia, pylorus, or proximal duodenum may be performed for:
-
Control of hemorrhage,
-
Removal of large blood clots not removable by lavage,
-
Removal of benign tumors,
-
Removal of foreign bodies,
-
Insertion or fixation of tubes,
-
Introduction of stapling instruments for gastroesophageal, gastroduodenal, or gastrojejunal anastomoses.
