Im folgenden Beitrag wird nicht nur der letzte Stand der Kenntnisse zur Pathophysiologie der Strumaentstehung geschildert, sondern es werden auch ältere Anschauungen referiert. Der Wandel der Anschauungen zur Pathophysiologie der Struma hilft, den Wandel der Therapiekonzepte zu verstehen, der sich in den letzten Jahren vollzogen hat.
