Zusammenfassung

Über das Thema „Gewebestoffwechsel und Steroidhormone“, unter welchen wir die chemisch verwandten Hormone der Keimdrüsen und der Nebennierenrinde verstehen, in kurzer Zeit zusammenfassend zu berichten, ist unmöglich. Es wäre vor 10 und 15 Jahren möglich gewesen, als darüber kaum etwas bekannt war. Seitdem haben sich aber verschiedene Laboratorien mit diesen Problemen in zunehmendem Maße beschäftigt, ohne daß man davon sprechen könnte, daß der Höhepunkt bereits erreicht oder gar überschritten sei. Ich nenne z.B. die Arbeits kreise von Verzár inBasel, Kochakian in Oklahoma, R. K. Meyer und McShanui Madison, Eisenberg, Gordan und Elliott in SanFrancisco,Hayano und Dorfman in Shrewsbury und unser Bonner Institut, das sich, zunächst ohne Kenntnis der meisten ausländischen Arbeiten, seit 1945 besonders mit der Einwirkung von Steroidhormonen auf den Gewebestoffwechsel (Atmung, Glykolyse) verschiedener tierischer Organe und auf Fermente in vitro beschäftigt, um die Frage einer direkten Hormon wir kung zu klären.
