Zusammenfassung

Das Risiko einer Frau, im Laufe ihres Lebens an einem Eierstockkrebs zu erkranken, beträgt unabhängig vom aktuellen Lebensalter etwa 1% (Gusberg u. Frick 1970). Das Risiko, daran zu sterben, ist nicht viel kleiner und liegt bei 0,9% (Randall 1970). Innerhalb der Wandlungen, welche die verschiedenen Genitalkarzinome in bezug auf Prävalenz, Häufigkeit und Mortalitätsrisiko in den letzten Jahrzehnten durchgemacht haben, nimmt das Ovarialkarzinom eine gewisse Sonderstellung ein: Von 1940–1966 etwa war die Zunahme der Häufigkeit vergleichsmäßig bescheiden (7,6%); die relative Mortalität ist jedoch stärker angestiegen (16%) als diejenige aller anderen vergleichbaren Karzinome (Randall 1970).
