Zusammenfassung
Seit 1965 ist es zu einer kontinuierlichen Zunahme der Todesfälle an Dickdarmkarzinomen gekommen, obwohl diese Erkrankung gegenüber anderen Krebsformen eine vergleichsweise günstige Prognose aufweist, daß eine hohe chirurgische Kurabilitätsrate vorliegt. Mehr als 20 000 Menschen starben 1976 an dieser Krebsform, wobei die Sterberate bei Frauen auf den ersten Platz vor das Mammakarzinom gerückt ist, während sie bei den Männern weiterhin auf dem dritten Platz liegt.
