Zusammenfassung

Die malignen epithelialen Geschwülste der Speiseröhre fordern in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland pro Jahr rund 2000 Todesopfer. Ihr relativer Anteil an allen bösartigen Tumoren beträgt 3–4%, bezogen auf die malignen Tumoren des gesamten Magen-Darm-Trakts etwa 9% (Linder 1976).
