Zusammenfassung

Seit der Beschreibung von Reiter (1916) wird die Trias Urethritis — Arthritis — Konjunktivitis im deutschen Sprachraum als Reiter-Syndrom (R.S.) bezeichnet. Mit wachsenden Fallzahlen und damit wachsender Erfahrung erkannte man, daß eine Reihe anderer Symptome häufig im Rahmen dieser Krankheit auftritt: Hauterscheinungen, Schleimhautulzerationen, Erkrankungen des kardiovaskulären Systems. Die häufig inkomplette Form des Syndroms besteht aus Urethritis und Arthritis; sie wird oft durch Haut-/Schleimhautsymptome ergänzt. Eine zeitlich enge Korrelation zwischen Arthritis und Urethritis sowie spezifische Vorerkrankungen (Urethritis, Dysenterie) sind ebenfalls Grundbedingungen für eine Diagnose.
