Abstract

The controversy concerning drainage operations versus resection has been joined on several fronts. At the present time there is great interest in the intractable duodenal ulcer, but attention should be given as well to the duodenal ulcer that is complicated by hemorrhage, perforation, or obstruction, and to the gastric ulcer. They will be discussed in order.
