Zusammenfassung
Die Eigenschaften eines Festkörpers hängen im allgemeinen vom Zustand der Dehnungen ab, in dem er sich befindet. Wirkt eine mechanische Spannung auf einen Kristall, so verschieben sich die Atome gegeneinander. Die Änderung der Gitterkonstanten bewirkt eine Änderung der Struktur der Leitungs- und Valenzbänder. Haben die Kristalle polare Achsen, so tritt Piezoelektrizität auf, d.h. unter Druck entstehen Ladungen auf Elektroden, die mit den Kristallen verbunden sind. Der piezoelektrische Effekt wirkt nur dynamisch, weil äußere Ladungen immer rasch gegenkompensiert werden. Er wird beschrieben in Kap. 6 dieses Buches. Sensoren, die ihn verwenden, sind rezeptive Sensoren.
