Zusammenfassung

Die V. cava superior (Abb. 37/2, 38/2, 39/2, 47/10, 48/8, 55/10, 56/10) entsteht aus dem Zusam-menfluß der Vv. brachiocephalicae, sammelt die Venen der oberen Körperhälfte und mündet in den rechten Vorhof. Sie befindet sich im vorderen Teil des oberen Mediastinums. Die obere Hälfte wird vorn vom Bindegewebe verdeckt, die untere liegt im Perikardsack. Vom Ausgangspunkt verläuft sie, einen sehr schwachen konvexen Bogen nach rechts bildend, in Richtung des Herzens. Links von ihr liegen die Aorta ascendens und der Anfangsabschnitt des Arcus aortae, rechts der rechte obere Lungenlappen, hinter ihr oben die A. pulmonalis dextra, weiter unten die V. pulmo-nalis superior dextra. Vorn, in ihrer unteren Hälfte, wird sie vom Perikard, innerhalb dessen vom rechten Herzohr, am oberen Abschnitt von mediastinalem Bindegewebe verdeckt. An der Rückseite, über dem Perikardrand, mündet die V. azygos in die V. cava superior.
