Abstract

New first order gravity stations were established and measured in Chile, during 1989 and 1991 using as base stations those determined for the System Informative of Latin American Gravity in 1977 (SILAG), about a 50% of the total, since the rest of them is no longer operative. The configuration of the network was remarkably enhanced by the installation of additional stations. The adjustment carried out by means of two La Coste and Ramberg gravimeters allowed to obtain a standard deviation of 27 μgal for the adjusted gravity differences. Gravity changes of more than 30 μgals obtained in preliminary analyses are associated to structural changes and seismo-tectonic aspects.
