Abstract

In our aircraft we have the need to display various data on a Head Up Display (HUD) in order to provide the pilot with necessary information about flight data (attitude, speed etc.) together with tactical data, at the same time as he is looking at the world outside the aircraft. We have been using HUDs in our aircraft since the sixties, and have developed three versions. All the versions use the same basic principle, which means that the primary information displayed is the velocity vector of the aircraft and the horizon. Round this mode dependant symbols for e.g. steering commands, warnings and tactical information are displayed.
