Zusammenfassung
Manche Themen und manche Theorien wirken fort, auch über Generationen hinweg. Eines dieser Themen ist die Auffassung von Persönlichkeit als Prozeß und von deren diachronem Wandel im Verlauf der Entwicklung. Hans Thomae hat schon 1951 formuliert, „daß fast alles, was Form und geronnene Struktur am menschlichen Charakter ist, einmal Geschehen war, und daß vieles, was jetzt Geschehen ist, einmal Form, Haltung, Bereitschaft, Triebkraft werden kann“ (33, S. 1), ein Satz, der immer wieder zitiert und in das Gedächtnis von Persönlichkeits- und Entwicklungspsychologen gerufen wurde (18). Eine prozeßorientierte Sicht von Persönlichkeit ist seiner Behandlung von Entwicklung deutlich zugrunde gelegt (36), und seine Konzepte der Daseinstechniken und Daseinsthemen (34) werden nach wie vor von Copingforschern sehr genau zur Kenntnis genommen, in vieler Hinsicht dem der Copingmechanismen vorgezogen. Und auch die sehr weiten, theoretisch bewußt voraussetzungsfrei zu verstehenden Konzepte der Reaktionsformen und Reaktionshierarchien (37) regten zu einem Verständnis von Persönlichkeit und Entwicklung an, das in seiner anfänglichen Prägnanz, elaboriert aber in seiner hohen Komplexität nach wie vor große Faszination auf Persönlichkeits- und Entwicklungspsychologen ausübt.
