Beziehung der Selbstmordraten in deutschen Großstädten zu einigen sozialen Faktoren

Zusammenfassung

Die Selbstmordraten für bestimmte Gebiete, wie Länder und Städte, weisen überraschend eine große Stabilität auf (Dean u. Mitarb., 1976; Lengwinat, 1961; Whitlock II, 1975). Diese Tatsache ist dadurch erklärbar, daß Selbstmordraten von solchen sozialen Faktoren abhängig sind, die charakteristisch füir ein bestimmtes Gebiet bleiben und die die individualen Schicksale direkt oder indirekt beeinflussen. Man kann sie aufteilen in solche, die verschiedene Krisen im Leben der Menschen mitbedingen können, und solche, die spezifisch die Entscheidung zum Selbstmord als Lösung der Krise (z.B. Suggestibilität und Bewertung der Selbstmordtaten) begünstigen. Die Suche nach relevanten sozialen Faktoren ist besonders für die Vorbeugung der Selbstmorde wichtig. Die Beeinflussung dieser Faktoren könnte ebenso wirksam sein wie die direkte Hilfe für die bedrohten Individuen. Dagegen kann die Erforschung dieser Faktoren auf kollektiver Ebene wenig dazu aussagen, welche konkrete Individuen aufgrund ihrer sozialen Charakteristika ein größeres Risiko für den Selbstmord tragen.
