Purification, Properties, and Composition of α1-Trypsin Inhibitor from Human Plasma

Proteinase Inhibitors

Part of the book series: Bayer-Symposium ((BAYER-SYMP,volume 5))

Abstract

Although plasma contains several fractions capable of inhibiting trypsin [1], the predominant amount of inhibitor (90%) is found in the α1globulin fraction [2]. Several investigators have reported partial purification of the α1trypsin inhibitor using a variety of preparative techniques [1–10]. The specific activity of these preparations ranged from 0.2 to 0.6 μg trypsin (uncorrected for active trypsin) inhibited per μg inhibitor.
