Abstract
The incidences in which adenomatous polyps, solitary or multiple, are found in the rectum or recto-sigmoid range from 7–10%. That many of these may undergo malignant transformation if not removed is the consensus of clinicians and pathologists. These may or may not become metastasizing, “killing cancers”. This is not possible to prognosticate with accuracy. Therefore, surgical removal and histologic study of all adenomatous polyps found at the time of sigmoidoscopy is most essential.
