Abstract
We report here the results of statistical observation of polyps of the colon and rectum basing both on the annual report of autopsies in Japan during the last 5 years and on the clinical material obtained in our department in the last 10 years with special reference to the probable etiological correlation between polyps and cancer. Polyps in this report do not include histologically confirmed malignant tumors, benign nonepithelial tumors and ulcerative colitis. Multiple polyps i. e. more than two in one patient, is also treated as polyposis in this report occasionally.
