Abstract
Micropuncture experiments [9] and studies on isolated renal tubules [5] have demonstrated that ADII influences final urine concentration by increasing the water permeability of the epithelium of the distal convolution and collecting duct. However, it is unclear whether a possible ADH-mediated enhancement of sodium reabsorption in the loop of Henle also participates in the concentrating mechanism [4, 8]. This is worthy of serious consideration in view of the demonstration of the stimulation of sodium transport of toad bladder epithelium by ADH [6, 7].
