Abstract
The symposium this afternoon relates to “Virological Questions of Special Interest for Pediatrics.” Certainly the problem of infection of the embryo and newborn is receiving intensive study in pediatrics at the present time. Not only are the teratogenic effects of infections extremely important but the additional considerations of the role of infections during the perinatal period in cytogenic abnormalities, cancer, and slow or latent involvement of the central nervous system are now being explored actively.
