Photochemical transformations of unsaturated nitro compounds

Abstract

Irradiation of 9-nitroanthracene (1) with light of wavelengths 420 to 530 mμ afforded the dimer as expected (comp, chapter 9), but exposure to 370–410 mμ radiation gave 10,10′-bianthrone (2) and nitrogen oxide [1].
