Zusammenfassung
Die zentrale areoläre Aderhautatrophie kommt unter den verschiedenen heredodegenerativen Krankheitsbildern der Chorio-idea (peripapilläre Aderhautatrophie, diffuse Aderhautatrophie, Atrophia gyrata, Chorioideremie) am häufigsten zur Beobachtung. Ihre sozialmedizinische Bedeutung ergibt sich sowohl aus dieser relativen Häufigkeit, als auch aus dem Manifestationsalter. Störungen des Lesevermögens treten meist ab der 5., seltener ab der 4. oder 6. Lebensdekade auf, jedenfalls zu einer Zeit, zu der der Betroffene zwar einerseits noch Jahre oder Jahrzehnte schöpferischen Daseins vor sich gehabt hätte, jedoch andererseits das günstigste Alter für Umschulungsmaßnahmen bereits überschritten hat.
