Zusammenfassung

Das Zentralnervensystem ist für die Verarbeitung der von außen kommenden, über die Sinnesorgane aufgenommenen Reize verantwortlich. Zwischenhirn und Hypophyse sind übergeordnete Zentren der hormonellen Regulation des Zellstoffwechsels (S.679). Das periphere Nervensystem dient als Träger der Erregungsleitung von zentral nach peripher und umgekehrt. Besondere Bedeutung kommt dabei dem sympathischen und dem parasympathischen Nervensystem zu (Lehrbücher der Physiologie).
