Zusammenfassung
Die Nieren sind das Kontrollorgan der Körperflüssigkeiten. Sie sorgen für eine konstante Zusammensetzung und ein gleichbleibendes Volumen der die Zellen umspülenden Extracellulärflüssigkeit und garantieren damit möglichst gleichbleibende und optimale Betriebsbedingungen für alle Zellen des Körpers. Ist ein Überschuß an Wasser oder gelösten Substanzen vorhanden, wird dieser Überschuß durch die Nieren ausgeschieden. Herrscht ein Mangel an Wasser und Elektrolyten, werden Sparfunktionen in Gang gesetzt, die weitere Verluste weitgehend verhindern, ohne dabei die notwendige Ausscheidung von Stoffwechselendprodukten zu beeinträchtigen.
