Abstract

Recently, the development of the equilibrium and stability theory of flat gravitating systems has occurred, mainly with the aim of understanding the galactic spiral structure. From the vast material accumulated here we have selected only some problems1 which are, in our opinion, most closely related to the subject of the book.
