Zusammenfassung
Die Verwendung von Fettemulsionen zur intravenösen Infusionstherapie hat Eingang in die Klinik gefunden. Eine parenterale Zufuhr von Fett erscheint unter folgenden Umständen angezeigt:

Wenn eine vollständige parenterale Ernährung erforderlich ist. Dies ist bei unzulänglich ernährten Kranken der Fall, bei denen die orale Nahrungsaufnahme unmöglich oder unzureichend ist. Hier muß allerdings auf eine ausgeglichene Nahrungszufuhr geachtet werden, da die Fettzufuhr nur Bestandteil einer vollständigen parenteralen Ernährung sein kann.

Wenn bei darniederliegendem Appetit eine Calorienerhöhung den Krankheitsverlauf günstig beeinflussen kann.

Wenn bei aufbrauchenden Prozessen einem fortschreitenden Eiweißabbau Einhalt geboten werden muß.

4.
Wenn man mittels parenteraler Ernährung einen hohen Brennwert in verhältnismässig kleinem Flüssigkeitsvolumen zuführen will.
