Concluding remarks

The aims of this workshop were to survey the action of the central and peripheral nervous systems in mild hypertension and to review the status of current research in the field. As a result we have all learned a great deal about recent developments in the understanding of the neuropharmacology and physiology of the nervous system. Increased knowledge in this field has led to a resurgence of interest in drugs such as Clonidine which act centrally on the nervous system. This area was, therefore, an important focus of attention of the workshop.
