Die Behandlung einer offenen Fraktur ist eine chirurgische Notfallsituation. Offene Frakturen weisen oft Begleitverletzungen auf. Die Erstversorgung und die Prioritätensetzung beim polytraumatisierten Patienten wurden an anderer Stelle erörtert.
