A Functional View of the Plasma Lipoproteins

  • Conference paper
Lipoide

Abstract

In 1929 Macheboeuf isolated in crude form what are now considered alpha lipoproteins1. One detects in his report a note of hopefulness that the complexes he obtained from horse serum did not represent merely a random association of lipid and protein but were part of an ordered mechanism of some biological importance. The ensuing years have seen this belief not only supported but enormously expanded by the varied contributions of many experimentalists.
