Gegen den Kopf ist der Hals durch den unteren Rand des Unterkiefers deutlich abgesetzt. Vom Unterkieferwinkel verläuft die Grenze zur Spitze des Processus mastoideus und von dieser entlang der Linea nuchea superior zur Protuberantia occipitals externa.
