Abstract
Planarians, like hydroids, are classical objects in regeneration experiments: in 1814, Dalyell found them “immortal under the edge of the knife.” Still earlier, Pallas (1778) had worked with them; and to this very day, new regeneration problems as they arise are taken to the planarians for investigation.
