Abstract

The induced nervous system is a highly complicated organ system, and it raises the question of how the organization and histological differentiation of the neural anlage is effected. Is the neural plate a self-differentiating field, which is induced in its entirely at the end of gastrulation, or does the substratum still play a role in the longitudinal organization of the neural anlage into brain and its associated regions, and into spinal cord with its differentiation along its length?
