Abstract
Prosthetic ligaments being investigated presently in the United States are the Polyflex ligament and the Proplast ligament. The principal investigators for the latter are Dr. SLOCUM and Dr. JAMES in Eugene, Oregon; Dr. HUGHSTON in Columbus, Georgia; and Dr. TULLOS and his group in Houston, Texas. The clinical and biomechanic properties of the Proplast ligament were recently discussed at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February 1977. We would suggest that if anyone is interested in the Proplast ligament, he direct his questions toward Dr. JAMES. It was our impression upon hearing the presentation that the Proplast ligament was being modified again, and perhaps there will be alterations in the basic biomechanic data and in future clinical experiences.
