Abstract
A sciatic gastrocnemius nerve-muscle preparation is obtained in the usual way. It is lifted into air by holding the achilles tendon with a forceps. The glass plate for dissection is then approached from the flat side of the muscle and the preparation brought to rest on it without distorting the nerve. The plate is put on a water-cooled dissection stand. A circular neon-bulb situated underneath provides a dark field illumination.
