Abstract
The aim of this experiment is to measure the hydraulic conductivity (L p ) of the “membrane” of the Nitella internodal cell, and its reflexion coefficient (σ) for a rapidly penetratin solute. The coefficients L p and σ appear in the phenomenological equations for the movement of water and solute across a homogeneous membrane separating solutions of the same nonelectrolyte.
