Zusammenfassung

Vor etwa 20 Jahren tauchten die ersten vorsichtigen Äußerungen in der Literatur auf, daß die Verabfolgung von Glukokortikosteroiden zu intraokularen Drucksteigerungen führen könnte. Heute wissen wir, daß erhöhte Gewebespiegel von Glukokortikoiden zu einer Steigerung des intraokularen Drucks führen. Es ist dabei gleichgültig, auf welche Weise es zu dieser Erhöhung des Koitikoidspiegels kommt. Drucksteigerungen treten auf nach lokaler Anwendung, nach allgemeiner Verabfolgung, aber auch bei einer endogenen Überproduktion an Glukokortikoiden, also z. B. bei einem Morbus Cushing. Wir können aber mit ziemlicher Sicherheit sagen, daß die erhöhte Gewebekonzentration im Bereich des Kammerwinkels für die Drucksteigerung verantwortlich ist.
