Zusammenfassung

Die Indikation zum Aortenklappenersatz wurde bisher meist aufgrund klinischer Daten gestellt (1, 3, 11). In jüngster Zeit zeigte sich jedoch, daß der präoperativen linksventrikulären Funktionsdiagnostik für den Erfolg des Klappenersatzes eine wesentliche Bedeutung zukommt (2, 12). Dies ist wichtig, da bis heute keine Klarheit besteht, ob der Aortenklappenersatz den natürlichen Verlauf der Erkrankung positiv oder negativ beeinflußt (13).
