Abstract

Injuries to the quadriceps and patellar tendons generally occur with rapid contraction of the quadriceps with varying degrees of flexion. In younger individuals, tears usually are midsubstance and through the tendon; in older individuals, tears generally occur at the attachment site (avulsion).
